Description

“I’m Hustle Marsalis… I’m Branford and Wynton’s baby brother cause we got different fathers.” - Hustle Man, Martin, S03E24, 1996

This clip is an excerpt from the television series "Martin," from season 04, episode 24, titled “Martin, I Just Want to Sing,” which first aired on April 4, 1996. I’ve included it in the Jazz In Pop Culture database for the line spoken by Hustle Man (as played by Tracy Morgan) at 0:021:

“I’m Hustle Marsalis… I’m Branford and Wynton’s baby brother cause we got different fathers.”

This clip is perhaps best known Morgan's hilarious acting, the absurdity of taping a kazoo to the saxophone, but especially Morgan's dance moves while "playing" the Average White Band's hit "Pick Up the Pieces."

While portions of this clip has popped up on my Facebook newsfeed sporadically throughout the years, none of the clips included the quote above, and I was floored when I finally heard the whole thing and the Branford and Wynton reference.
